here are a few miscellaneous moments from my relaxed weekend that brought me some of the joy i seek to capture on this page.
my saturday morning began with this bowl of breakfast in bed. plain 0% fage yogurt topped with frozen blueberries, pure pumpkin purée, cinnamon, and raw oats. i added honey and almonds after mixing all this up for some healthy sugars and fats.
next i was off to the park for a walk in the chilly morning air to wake up my body. i walked three laps around the loop of the park and added in alternating lunges–3 reps of 50–for a little strengthening. please excuse the abundance of recent leaves pictures. they are just too vibrant to exclude.
my friday night dinner was at paper planes, the same restaurant that i wrote about a few weeks back, in atlanta’s decatur area. the tucked-away jewel of an eatery was once again a pleasure. this time i opted for the octopus terrine, which came with radishes, a poached pear filled with a sweet black ink-like cream, toasted pecans, and shaved apples all atop a bed of lemony greens. along with the octopus i ordered a side of brussels sprouts that came perfectly roasted and crispy with pomegranate seeds, walnuts, and blistery cooked grapes in a apple cider vinegar sauce. the savory, crunchy brussels, the warm, sweet fruits, and the tangy sauce crafted a perfect pairing of autumn flavors alongside my cooled octopus entrée.
i decided to go ahead and post this now, since my sunday will not likely produce any pretties like the ones above. i will be working the day away and studying–probably in bed and probably in pajamas. i hope the rest of you are out enjoying bountiful sunday brunches and the autumn sunshine.
