amidst a hectic final exam period, i found a bit of magical mystical memorable holiday spirit at atlanta’s botanical gardens.
there are only so many hours in one day that one can look at a word document. your eyes will surely start to sting and your back will feel like it is melting into the itchy desk chair you have occupied for far too long. study breaks are necessary. i was reminded of the wonders of those little respites on wednesday night, when my roommate and i popped over to the holiday light show at atlanta’s botanical gardens. just 11 minutes from our dorm (thanks, gps), and we were transported to a world of string lights, where visitors meandered through walkways with names like ‘the funky forest’. every so often we’d pass a s’mores station, where friends, families, and couples huddled together around cozy bonfires.
oh, there were also snakes.
… and bugs.
… and rows of corn.
… and, of course, trees. dozens were lit from trunk to treetop in colors that seemed to vibrate in the dark december air.
a study break worth taking, and a blissful way to enter the holiday season!
