exams are over and i am finally home for the holidays. on my first full day back, i got to do some of my very favorite things. want a play-by-play?
i woke up before 7am, naturally, and got myself out for a run/walk by 10am–post-breakfast, post-coffee, post-anything important. i of course forgot that snow and ice exist, as i have yet to see any in atlanta this winter. i was consequently amused enough by the sleet on the pavement to stop and take a picture during my three-mile jog.
i also paused to snap this shot, just two blocks from my apartment. i couldn’t help but notice how the morning shadows settled on the buildings’ facades.
next, it was time to get dressed for the day. i overestimated the temperature and chose this: my very fanciest, 17$ h and m coat.
nicely bundled, i made my way to chelsea, where i met a good friend for coffee and a quick catch-up session before she headed out of town. after wandering the area and picking up a pair of waxed pants on double sale at club monaco, i found myself at the new york public library. i strolled through the building along with the tourists, stopping for photo opps like the best of ’em.
with a rumbling belly, thanks to the two miles i walked uptown, i returned home for a sort of lunch/sort of dinner at 4pm. thankfully the fridge was well stocked with various leftovers from a recent holiday party held by my parents, which meant a conglomerate of a meal for me. lemony olives, sun dried tomato and goat cheese spread, cherry tomatoes, whitefish salad on wheat bread, butternut squash cubes, and those teensy, tart pickles whose name i just learned (gherkins!) comprised the well-rounded assortment. oh, and the chocolate chunk walnut brownies i stumbled upon in the freezer didn’t hurt, either. not too shabby for leftovers.
so, maybe this was a bit of an exhaustive recap, but it was a day worth sharing, in my opinion. here’s to many more over the next three weeks.
