It’s been a while since I gave a glimpse into my Life Lately, mostly because it has felt inundated with midterms madness. Nevertheless, I’ve tried my best to take meaningful breaks. Here are a few of them.
A mid-week walk along Atlanta’s Beltline, where a friend and I stopped in vintage furniture and décor mecca Paris on Ponce along the way:
With an itch to try something new, I volunteered to plant trees on the farm at my university’s sister campus. Though we planted Japanese persimmon shrubs, this photo features the farm’s lacinato kale plants, prospering in February.
And because it’s my very last semester in school, I’m trying my best to take advantage of all that my university has to offer. So, I signed up for an event called “Dinner With 12 Strangers,” which pairs students and university affiliates with alumni who host the group in their home for dinner. The evening was more of a cocktail party, with h’ors doeurves on deck and an open bar. Note the ceviche in shot glasses and bite-sized shrimp ‘n grits below. Mini chicken and waffle bites, crab cakes, tomato soup / grilled cheese shooters, and the outdoor s’mores bar (!) not pictured.
Even more surprising than the smorgasbord provided was our hosts’ offer that guests take turns riding the zip line that ran across their backyard. No joke. Obviously we “strangers” lined up one by one to take wine-fueled (for those of age) rides, despite it being nighttime and an apparatus primarily meant for children. Go figure.
For now it’s back to the library for one last cram session before I finish midterms and head to the West Coast for spring break. Counting the hours, but until then I’ll be here:
