Life Lately (22).

lifeWith just five weeks left in Atlanta (for good!), I’m trying my best to attack a bucket list of sorts. Scroll with me?

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably caught on to the fact that I fell in love (hard) with Inman Park’s new seafood mecca, Beetlecat. With a stellar space and unforgettable food, Beetlecat made my favorites list. The lowdown: the restaurant’s first level is Pinterest-status polished, while its lower level boasts a more relaxed, 70s feel, with weathered leather couches and rope chandeliers reminiscent of surf shack décor.

Equally important, the food was on point. Friends and I shared salt and pepper squid, complete with crispy, spicy peppers, to start. With temps in the 70s here, I decided to welcome summer with a lobster roll for my main. Beetlecat switched up the classic by putting the sandwich on a hamburger bun — lightly toasted and heavily buttered to perfection. No complaints for the non-conventionality, though. This roll was everything and more.

In between eating all the things, I’ve also been walking up a storm. Running has kind of fell to the wayside for me, so I’m logging (slower) miles in parks and on trails. I try my hardest to stay off ATL’s main roads. Because I prefer to look at trees, not strip malls…

Friends and I recently stumbled upon Twigg & Co.’s Chocolate by Design in Inman Park. Owned by the same people behind Cacao in Virginia Highlands (remember it from here?), the quaint storefront allows customers to create personalized chocolate bars and chocolate-covered frozen bananas.

I opted for the chocolate-covered frozen banana, since the bars take about 15 minutes to set, and picked crushed pistachios and chocolate crumbs as my toppings. Other options included pretzels, goji berries, and shredded coconut. Note: the chocolate here is super high-quality and super dark, so Hershey’s fans won’t be thrilled. I loved the chocolate’s deep flavor, though, and I figured it was basically a health item, thanks to all of cacao’s antioxidants.

So there’s a taste (ha) of what I’ve been up lately. Check back soon for more of Life Lately, including yoga outdoors, cheeseburgers and popsicles, and lengthy hikes. Because it’s all about balance, right?
